<!-- ===== filtering in LTPDA description ===== -->
<h2><a name="Applyfiltdesc">Description</a></h2>
<p>
  Digital filtering in LTPDA can be performed by a call to the <tt>ao/filter</tt> method.
  <tt>ao/filter</tt> method is a wrapper of the standard MATLAB filter method.
  Details of the core algorithm can be found in the proper
  <a href="matlab:doc('filter')">documentation page</a>.
</p>

<!-- ===== Examples ===== -->

<h2><a name="Applyfiltexample">Examples</a></h2>
<p>
  Given an input analysis object (can be a time series or a frequency series object)
  <tt>a_in</tt>, digital filtering operation can be easily performed:
</p>

<div class="fragment"><pre>

    a_out = filter(a_in,fobj)

</pre></div>

<p>
  Where <tt>fobj</tt> is a filter. It can be a <a href="sigproc_iir.html">MIIR</a>,
  a <a href="sigproc_fir.html">MFIR</a>
  or a <a href="sigproc_filterbanks.html">FILTERBANK</a> object.
</p>
<p>
  The filter object <tt>fobj</tt> can be also embedded in a plist
</p>

<div class="fragment"><pre>

    pl = plist(<span class="string">'filter'</span>, fobj);
    a_out = filter(a_in,pl)

</pre></div>
